Yes, you read it right. Ginger (the root, not the redheads) has tremendous health benefits. And, as I will always point out, there is science and biology behind this statement.
Ginger from the Zingiberaceae family contains an oil called Gingerol. This chemical has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties.
I started recommending fresh ginger tea (without sugar) for my patients with HIV/AIDS who were taking 20+ pills a day and experiencing terrible reflux and stomach acid pains.
